Coastal Obituaries

Barbara Joan Motte Barnes passed away April 4, 2019. Born in Charleston, S.C., on July 29, 1938. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Buddy” Barnes, and her daughter, Kathy Barnes and parents, C.E. and Frances Motte, Winnie and Kelly Turner; and two brothers, Calvin and Van Motte.
She was retired from the Camden County Board of Education. She loved her work as a paraprofessional and loved telling stories of the many wonderful children she was able to work with through the years. She also loved working in the yard, singing in the choir at her church and giving to and doing for others.
Survivors include her twin sister, Jean Price; and brothers, Bill Motte, Chris Motte and Dale Motte. Children, Mike (Tami) Barnes, Doug (Debbie) Barnes, Jody Barnes and Kim (Greg) Larkin; and grandchildren, Megan (David) Caison, Blair (Steven) Bota, Danielle Murgic, Brittany Barnes, Carson Barnes, Gabe Larkin, Whitney Larkin and Tyler Larkin.
Funeral Services were held Sunday, April 7, at First Baptist Church in St Marys with Pastor Bobby Woods officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in St Marys. Allison Memorial Chapel and Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Doris (Shunang) Maxie King, 89, of Jacksonville, Fla., passed away April 8, 2019. She was born Nov. 6, 1929, in Many, La., to the late Effie Mae Baker Maxie and Earl Maxie. Doris was predeceased in death by her brothers, Robert Lee Maxie, Dr. Earl Kenneth Maxie and William Andrew Robinson, as well as her husband, Lonnie James King.
She is survived by her son, Robert James King (Bernita) of Hawthorne, Calif.; two granddaughters, Réyna King Polk (Craven) of Emeryville, Calif., and Réynda King of Hawthorne; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Robinson of Jacksonville, Fla., and Eunice Samuels Lewis, Esq., of Trenton, N.J.; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Alma Sutton, Mrs. Louise Walton of Miami and Mrs. Laverne Robinson of St. Marys; a godson, Kenneth Taylor of St. Simons Island, GA, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, including the Maxie and Garner families of Many, La., the Baker and Nightingale families from Camden County, and the Miller family from Winston-Salem, N.C.
A viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 26, at James Graham Mortuary, 3631 Moncrief Road, Jacksonville, FL 32209.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 1365 Kinlaw Road, Kingsland, GA 31548 with Pastor Leon Washington officiating. Bishop A. Dawson of Georgia Avenue Church of God will deliver the eulogy. A committal service will be held in Many, La.

Geraldine Stubbs passed away April 3, 2019 at her home in St. Marys, Ga. A private service will be held by the family. Coastal Camden Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

William “Billy” Harris, age 49, passed away April 8, 2019 in Jacksonville. A private service will be held by the family at a later date. Coastal Camden Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Patricia L. Jacobs, age 63, passed away April 9, 2019 at her home in St. Marys, Ga. Private Services will be held by the family at a later date. Coastal Camden Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Robert R. Creo, age 80, of Kingsland, GA passed away April 3, 2019. Born March 22, 1939, in Pittsburgh to the late Amelia Ann Pampena-Creo and Edward Matthew Creo. He lived in Pittsburgh until he joined the U.S. Navy in 1956. After separating from the Navy, Mr. Creo relocated to southern California for the warmer winters where he began his career at Pacific Bell, where he retired as a senior manager after 33 years of service. Mr. Creo moved to Kingsland in February 2005 with the new love of his life, Ms. Tammy Gabrinetti.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Creo joins his twin brother, Eddie, and stepdaughter, Tammy Mushaney. He is survived by his brother, Richard Creo (Candace); his sister, Jackie Bucci (Phil); his five children, Joyce Creo, Michael Creo (Resa), Carrie Smith, Stacy Chadwick (Robert) and Robert R Creo (Lisa); 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date for his friends and family.

J. Alan Eason, 52, of Woodbine passed away April 7, 2019. Born August 13, 1966, in Brunswick. He was a graduate of Camden County High School and Valdosta State University. Alan loved his family and spending time outdoors. He was a kind man with a heart of gold.
Survivors include his wife, Angela M. Eason; daughter, Kaylee Eason; son, Jakeb Eason; daughter, Delaney Metts; parents, Jessee T. and Barbara F. Eason; sister, Tina (Marshall) Boyd; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 11th, at Three Rivers Church, 101 Miller St., St. Marys, GA 31558, with Pastor Mike Roddy and Pastor Brian Parker officiating. Graveside services followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys. Allison Memorial Chapel and Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

John Samuel Grier Jr. (Sam), 86, of St. Marys passed away March 25, 2019. Born on June 10, 1932, in Eufala, Ala., to the late John Samuel and Essie Grier. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Irmarie Rogers Grier.
He retired after 43 years at Gilman paper mill. He was an accomplished carpenter who believed in doing it right the first time. He was also the owner of Doug’s Drive-In in Kingsland, Woodbine and St. Marys where his speciality was barbecue.
He is survived by his children, John, Doug, Dell, Kathy and Beth, and their families; a brother, Irvin; and a sister, Nancy.

Sheeyta Elaine Herrin, 21, of St. Marys passed away March 31, 2019. Born on December 15, 1997, to Gregory and Valorie Herrin. She attended the public schools of Camden County and graduated from Camden County High School in the class of 2017. She was preceded in death by her mother, Valorie Herrin, and her brother, Shar-ron Dickerson.
She is survived by her father, Gregory Herrin; sisters, Soquoyia Herrin-Grant (Travis), Shaquanda Dickerson and Teira Dickerson (Xavier Small); brothers, Gregory Williams (Bethany), Terrance Williams and Kentral Edwards (Floranda); grandparents, Sarah Lee Herrin and Annabelle Dickerson; godparents, Willie and Yvonne Edwards; aunts, Doreen Middleton, Cathy Waye (Terry), Loretta Dickerson, and Yolanda Dickerson; uncles, Anthony Herrin, Willie Dickerson and Gary Dickerson; nephews, Jayden Dickerson, Travis Grant, Keaundrae Walker and Charles Grant; niece, Valorie Grant; special cousin, Kashawna Farrior; special friend, Johntai Wilson; best friend, Jada Marlowe; and a host of special cousins and special friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 13, at First African Missionary Baptist Church in Kingsland. Sunset Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Elizabeth Hill, age 9, of Kingsland, passed away March 31, 2019, at Southeast Georgia Health System, Camden Campus.

Fredrick Mastin Jr., 80, of St. Marys passed away April 2, 2019, at UF Health Community Hospice in Jacksonville, Fla.
Memorial services were held Monday, April 8, at Kings Bay chapel with military honors. Allison Memorial Chapel and Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Daniel L. Williams Jr., 86, of Kingsland passed away April 14, 2019. Born in Talbotton, Ga., on Nov. 13, 1932, to the late Virginia Harvey Williams and Daniel L. Williams Sr. The family moved to Savannah before Dan Jr. was a year old. He was the oldest of four sons born to this union. Dan was an active member of the Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church where he served as chairman of the board of deacons and a Sunday School teacher. He was married to the former Elvenia Waye of Kingsland for 58 years.
He began employment with the University of Georgia Extension Service in 1956 in Meriwether County. He transferred to Camden County in 1957. He served in Camden County until September 1972 when he transferred to the Georgia Extension personnel office at the University in Athens. Dan was active in many civic activities in Camden County. He served on the Camden County Industrial Authority The United Way Board of Directors and was chairman of that board. He also served on the board of directors for both C.A.P.D. and Rural Development Center. He served as county commissioner for eight years and was chairman of that board. He served on the Coastal Zone Management Advisory Board and the University of Georgia Sea Grant Advisory committee.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 20, at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church. Sunset Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
