Sissy is a 4 year old Pitbull/Hound mix that entered the shelter as a stray in April. She is a sweet girl; mellow and affectionate. She loves hanging out with people and just chillin’. She can be playful at times and has known to get silly once in awhile! Sissy knows sit, lay down and shake. She also walks very well on leash. Sissy is a girl that can get along with other dogs if they are submissive or mellow like her. She would make a great companion dog for someone.

A memorial run to remember and honor those who have fallen during Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Inherent Resolve, Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, & Operation New Dawn. Begin with a memorial 5K June 14th. Closing ceremony will be held on August 2nd with a 5K and remembrance ceremony. Commands begin logging miles after the opening 5K. Each command will be challenged to run a mile for every fallen service member since 2001 (6,850). Commands have 8 weeks to accumulate at least 6,850 miles. Each command that meets the mileage goal will receive Honor & Remember flags.

Coastal Obituaries

Carolyn Josephine Asaro, 72 of St. Marys passed away July 1st, 2018 at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick, Ga.
Born on August 7th, 1945 in Birmingham, Al. to the late Alfred and Virginia Asaro. She graduated from Ensley High School. Carolyn attended the First Baptist Church of Kingsland.
Her family said of her, “Carolyn Josephine Asaro will always be remembered as a person who was a friend to all. She never found the man of her dreams, and she never had children of her own. Her love for children is what guided her and kept her working for the Extended Day Program at David L Rainer Elementary. She worked her job with pride, and she took the time to get to know every child that she worked with, and she knew each one by name even long after they left. She continued to work at the daycare until the doctors told her that she could no longer do it anymore.
Survivors include her sister, Diana Peeples of St. Marys, Ga.; her niece, Lois Flaherty; her nephew, Douglas Peeples, Jr.; her great-nieces and great-nephews, Jim, Justin, Christina, Olivia, Carlean, Gatlin, Mason and Scott; and several cousins.
A private burial will be held by the family at Brazell-Peeples Cemetery in Kingsland, Ga. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers


Berneice Loyola Bare, age 90, passed away June 30, 2018 at her home in St. Marys, Ga.
Born on December 4th, 1927 in Ransom, Kansas to the late Frank Peter and Sophia Leis Roths. Berneice AKA, Mom, Mamma, Grandma, Grammy, Aunt Berneice, Aunt B, and Bernie, left home in Kansas at the young age of 18 to join two of her sisters in Washington DC and help care for a newborn nephew. She also worked part-time at the soda fountain of a dime store. There she met her future husband Dean and married in 1947. They gave birth to their first son Deanie, and soon moved to Florida to pursue work opportunities in Miami. According to legend the car broke down in Jacksonville, so that’s where they settled to raise their family, including the birth of their daughters Vickie in 1952, and Deanna in 1968. In 2014, Berneice moved to live part-time with Paul & Vickie Hafer in St. Marys GA, and with Deanna & Lane Iannucci in Jacksonville. Survivors include her daughters, Vickie (Paul) Hafer of St. Marys, Ga. and Deanna (Lane) Iannucci of Jacksonville, Fl.; her sisters, Jane Boyd of Hilliard, Fl. and Frankie Oliver of Ransom, Ks.; her brother, Bobby Roths of Ransom, Ks.; her grandchildren, Kim Bare, Deanna Dingman, Dean Bare, and Hannah Iannucci; and her great-grandchildren, Kate Dingman, Gabe Dingman, Grant Dingman, Zane Bare, Peyton Bare, and Tenley Bare. Besides her parents, Ms. Bare was preceded in passing by her husband, Harold Bare, her sons, Deanie Bare and Ricky Bare, and numerous siblings. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018 at the Chapel at Evergreen Cemetery on N. Main Street in Jacksonville, Fl.

Colin Ray Chambliss, 32, of Kingsland, Georgia passed away June 23, 2018. Born May 25, 1986, in Norfolk, Va., to Curtis and Carol Chambliss. He had been a resident of Kingsland for 29 years and he completed his studies at Camden County High School in Kingsland. Colin was very proud of his work and employment with Venture Construction and Design.
Colin was a sports car enthusiast and had a great passion for riding motorcycles. He was a member of Sports Bikes of Camden County as well as Import Tuner Guys of Camden and Jacksonville. Colin’s hobbies were rebuilding cars and motorcycles and sharing his infectious smile with friends and family.
Survivors include his mother, Carol N. Chambliss, of Kingsland; father, Curtis L. Chambliss (Shawne) of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother, Curtis L. Chambliss II (Keisha); niece, Aminah S. Chambliss of Orlando, Fla.; grandmother, Charity Standberry, of Montgomery, Ala.; and several uncles, aunts, cousins, classmates and special friends.
A memorial service was held Friday, June 29, at Southeast Community Church in Kingsland.


Joseph “Dave” Davis, 70, of Kingsland passed away June 21, 2018, at his residence. Born December 20, 1947, in Memphis, Tenn., and was the son of the late James Preston Davis and the late Dalmer Whaley Davis. Whether you knew Dave from the military, from his civil service years or from around town, you knew a true friend. No matter where he went, he took the time to get to know the people around him. He often had a pocket full of mints and would leave handfuls with those he interacted with. No matter how you knew Dave, he never failed to make your life a little sweeter. Dave was retired from the United States Navy, serving his country honorably during Vietnam.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Mark Russo; grandchildren, Samantha Renee Russo, Rebecka Morgan Russo, Evelyn Elizabeth Russo and Jonathan Reuben Russo; and many friends and loved ones.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Allison Memorial Chapel and Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.


Tony Green Jr., 33, of Kingsland passed away June 20, 2018.
Born July 27, 1984, in Brunswick to the late Melody Felicia Ann Roche and the late Tony Marcell Green Sr. Tony attended the public schools of Camden County and graduated from Camden County High School in 2003.
Besides his mother and father, those preceding him in death are his grandparents, Robert Roche Jr., Eva Sue Roche and Willie James Green.
Survivors include his children, Toni Green, T’Niya Holland and Tristan Green-Diddell; sisters, Shalanda Sierre Roche and Marcea Dereka Roche; a host of aunts and uncles; special cousins, Neil Noah Clark, Tony White and Michael Patterson Jr.; special friends, Jeremy Bacon and Daphne Diddell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Refreshing Oasis Church. Sunset Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.


Slade Edison Horne passed June 19th, 2018 in Kingsland, Ga. Born on December 8th, 2017 in Fernandina Beach, Fl. to Rhae Odum. Slade brought so much joy to his family’s lives. They never knew they could love the way they love him. He made such a difference in their lives in just a short time and he will forever be remembered in their hearts.
Slade is survived by his mother, Rhae Ellen Odum, Brandon Crews, and his father, James Horne. Slade is also survived by his grandparents, Lisa Whiddon of Woodbine, Ga. and Rodney Odum of Fernandina Beach, Fl.; his aunts, Jennifer Russell of Gulfport, Ms. And Megan Whiddon of Woodbine, Ga.; his uncles, Rodney Young Odum, II and Taj Odum both of Fernandina Beach, Fl; and his siblings, Annabel, Abigail, Joshua, and Jaeden.
A memorial service was held privately by the family. Coastal Camden Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.


Golda M. Lovell, 84, of St. Marys passed away June 24, 2018 at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick. Born May 7, 1934 in West Point, MS, and was the daughter of the late Charlie and Jewell Ward. She was also preceded in death by her son, Charles Benny Clemons. Mrs. Lovell had been a resident of Camden County since 1955 and was a member of Westside Baptist Church. She enjoyed flower arranging, crafts, and baking. She adored her family and will be sadly missed.
Survivors include her three daughters, Linda Hebert (Mike) of St. Marys, Sharon Larsen (Jim) of Bracey, VA, and Anne Andrews (Kenny) of Callahan, FL; 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 29, 2018 at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys with Pastor Greg Gardell officiating.

Lauren Marie Seeley, 27, of St. Marys passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla. Born August 21, 1990, in Greenock, Scotland. She had been a resident of Camden County for 26 years and was best known to all of her friends as Mama Bear. She worked as a hostess at Longhorn as well as a front desk receptionist at Comfort Inn in Kingsland. She also had worked at Cracker Barrel for many years as a hostess. She was always known for her big heart and wonderful personality.
Survivors include her parents, Mike and Trena Seeley of St. Marys; a brother, David Seeley of Jacksonville, Fla; her grandpa Seeley; and many aunts, uncles and cousins here in the United States as well as in Scotland.
Memorial services were held Friday, June 29, 2018 at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys.
Allison Memorial Chapel and Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.


Patricia Ann Hills Sexton, age 65, of Yulee, FL, passed away June 22, 2018.
Born March 21, 1953 in Millerstown, PA.
Survivors include her husband Bill E. Sexton and two children, Ginger R. Sexton and Phillip E. Sexton; 4 grandchildren, Cheyenne, Cyerra, Logun, and Tate; two sisters, Ruth Frost of Jacksonville, FL and Phyllis Morey of Wellsboro, PA and a brother, Bernard Hills of Williamsport, PA.
A private Memorial Service will be held July 28, 2018 at Huguend Memorial Park.
