Coastal Obituaries

William Morris “Bill” Crews, 81, of Kingsland passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 19, 2019, surrounded by loved ones at his home after an extended illness.
He was a native of Winokur and lived most of his life in Camden County. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Gilman Paper Company after 41 years where he was a member of the International Association of Machinists, St. Marys Local No. 1128. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles No. 4379.
Predeceased by parents, Rufus and Minnie Jane Johns Crews of Nahunta; two brothers, R.C. Crews of Folkston and Delmus Crews of Kingsland; sister, Anne Knight of Jacksonville, Fla., and his son-in-law, Mark Holt.
Survived by his wife of 50 years, Earlene Crews of Kingsland; daughters, Tammy Dame (Harvey Blumsack) of Spartanburg, S.C., and Gail Holt of Great Falls, Va.; grandchildren, Sarah and Kelly Dame of Spartanburg, S.C., Lizzie and Maddie Holt of Great Falls, Va.; and great-grandchild, Kylie Dame of Spartanburg, S.C. Also survived by brothers, Newton Crews of Whitehouse, Fla., Robert Crews of Woodbine and Donald Crews of Jacksonville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
For the last 23 years, he enjoyed the peace of the home he and his wife built on the lake. He was an avid reader, car collector and defender of all wildlife. He loved his family (especially his grandchildren), the outdoors and visiting with friends and neighbors in his workshop. In later years, his favorite pastime was riding in the truck or golf cart with his companion and best friend, Charlie.
The family wishes to thank nephew Mark Crews and numerous members of the neighborhood community who provided support during times of need.
Funeral Services were held on Sunday, June 30, at Frye Funeral Home in Nahunta with Rev. Bill Alderman officiating.

James Miller Kennedy, 83, of Kingsland, passed away June 26, 2019 at Harbor View Satilla Nursing Home in Waycross.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys.

Albert Ruben Martinez, 64, of Woodbine, passed away May 25, 2019.
Born July 2, 1954 in Wichita, Kan., and was the son of the late Albert and Esther Rios Martinez.
Ruben had been a resident of Camden County since 1978. He was retired from the United States Navy, serving his country honorably with 20 years of service. He also was employed with Trident Refit Facility as an electrician.
Survivors include his wife, Renee Martinez of Woodbine; stepmother, Merceed Martinez; children, Albert, Jose, Maria and Jesse; stepchildren, Adam and Jacob; brothers and sisters, Raymond, Philipe, Martin, Adele and Nancy; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1pm Sunday, July 14, at the VFW Post 8385 in Kingsland with Chaplain Fred Higgins and full military honors.

Nathan Ray Morgan Sr., 71, passed away on the morning of June 25, 2019, at his residence in Waverly. He was surrounded by his wife and daughter.
Born to Milton and Ruby Morgan on April 1, 1948, in Clarendon, Ark. He married his sweetheart, Linda Marie Stewart, in April 1966 and were married for 53 years. They raised two children. He was known for his quick wit, sense of humor, love for his family and a great love of his savior Jesus Christ.
Nathan leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Linda Stewart Morgan; daughter, Tammy Morgan Armstrong; son-in-law, Steven Armstrong; sisters, Joyce Parker of Van Buren, Ark., and Lois Thomas of Van Buren; brother, Roger Morgan of San Antonio, Texas; four grandsons; and five great-grandchildren.
Golden Isles Cremation is in charge of arrangements.

Albert James Sullivan, U.S. Navy master chief (ret.), peacefully passed away on June 19, 2019, at his home in Rockville, Md.
Born Oct. 22, 1939, in Woodbine, Al is survived by his devoted wife, Lillian Elaine Fishburne; his daughters, Tracy Morgan (Byron) and Cherese Henry (Atiba); grandchildren, Terrance Sullivan (Amber), Byron II and Malcolm Morgan, Caelan and Caleila Henry; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Jackson, Gail Sullivan, Mozele Eleby and Iris Sullivan; aunt, Walter Mae “Bunch” Stewart; former spouse, Bennie Triplett Sullivan; and six nieces and nephews.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Albert B. Sullivan and Mertie Bell Popwell; daughter, Kimberley Sullivan; and sisters, Laura Gilmore, Delphine Sullivan and Shirley Sullivan.
Funeral services were held on Friday, June 28, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Rockville, MD. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va., at a later date.
