Lt. Col. Francis “Bo” W. S. Richbourg Sr., U.S. Army, Ret., 67, passed away on July 30, 2019, in St. Marys.
Bo’s celebration of life was held Saturday, Aug. 3, at Allison Memorial Chapel.
Lt. William Daniel officiated and U.S. Army representatives, courtesy of the Fort Stewart Honor Guard, performed the funeral honors.
Bo was a family man and a friend to anyone he ever met — a stranger was just a new potential friend, waiting for an opportunity to chat. He was quick to lend a hand, a dollar, words of encouragement or even the shirt off his back (which was usually a loud tropical print) to anyone in need.
Bo was married for more than 38 years to the Songbird of His Heart, Barbara A. Richbourg. He has three children, Francis W. S. Richbourg Jr., Bobbi J. Richbourg and Alicia H. Winfield. His four grandchildren are Kaylin S. Richbourg, Elijah, Zoe and Madison Winfield. He is also survived by his father, G. Olin Richbourg Sr., and his brother, George O. Richbourg Jr.
Bo was preceded by his mother, Sara H. Smith Richbourg; his sister, Janet Tennant; and his nephew, Charles “Charlie” Tennant.
Those who knew him, can attest to the strong interconnection between his many passions: faith, family, military career, traveling, playing stocks, reading, dreaming, etc., as demonstrated by his consistent willingness to put his family/others before his own wants or needs (i.e., vacations, job promotions). Thus, it remains challenging to select a few of his greatest qualities, as there are so many to choose from. But, let’s say that his smile, laugh, wisdom, quirky “dad-ness,” unflagging love for his family, morning smooches to his wife, forgiveness, sensitivity and unlimited catchphrases are among the first that shall be deeply treasured by all those blessed with his joyful light. Thank you and I’m proud of you! Remember: Best. [….]. Ever. LHAP/LYB2.
