Arlene Reynolds Gibson, 76, of Cumming died Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care in Cumming.Arlene Reynolds Gibson, 76, of Cumming died Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care in Cumming. Funeral services were held Thursday, December 6, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Dean Ropp officiating, with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery. Born January 17, 1942, in Dodge County to the late Mary Burnham Reynolds and Joe Brown Reynolds and was a lifelong resident of Georgia, except for three years in Kentucky. She was a graduate of Dodge County High School, Georgia Southwestern University, Valdosta State University and was a member of North Lanier Baptist Church in Cumming.She was a former employee of First National Bank for one year, the Bank of Eastman for more than 10 years and was a retired educator for Kingsland Elementary School for more than 33 years. Arlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She had a passion for teaching, especially reading, working with toddlers in church and faithfully studying God’s word. She enjoyed time with her grandchildren, ministering to nursing home residents, cooking, sewing, helping others, working in her yard, reading, gardening and crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilton L. “Bill” Gibson. Survivors include son, Dr. Bradford W. Gibson and wife, Stephanie of Cumming; two grandchildren, Christopher Gibson and Kennedy Gibson; two sisters, Susie Harrell of Eastman and Joyce Hutchinson of Clayton; and several nieces and nephews.Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home of Eastman has charge of arrangements.

She was raised in St. Marys and attended Camden County schools. She was an avid reader and enjoyed handcrafts. She was a longtime employee of Walmart, retiring in 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Douglas Hernandez. Survived by her children, Angel Brown of Brunswick, Phil Gowen of Woodbine and Andy Gowen of Brunswick; grandchildren, Amanda (Andy), Leeanne (Angel) and Nicolette (Angel); and great-grandchildren, Trysten (Amanda) and Sailor (Leeanne). A celebration of life ceremony will be held from 3pm to 5pm Sunday, December 16, at Cumberland Inn & Suites, 2710 Osborne Road in St. Marys.

Jerry Jeanne Merrow, 88, a longtime resident of Camden County, passed peacefully in Oroville, Calif.
Jerry Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Kenneth Merrow II; and her son, James “Little Jimmy” Travis.
Jerry Jeanne is survived by her children, Susie Suzanne, Claude Kenneth III, Alecia Claire, William Edward, Charles Prescott, Jeffery Alberta, Donald Wayne and Kathryn Lynn; 22 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
A woman of faith, Jerry Jeanne Merrow was a member of the Church of the Great God.


Eva Mae Pendleton, 92, of St. Marys passed into eternal life on Monday, December 3, 2018, at Senior Care Center in St. Marys.
Born April 10, 1926, in Charleston, S.C., and was the daughter of the late Harley J. Turner and the late Effie E. Murrell Turner.
In her younger life, she worked as an administrative secretary at the Charleston Naval Shipyard while married to Herman B. Bostick, who passed away in service to our country. She married her life mate, Hugh Pendleton on Dec. 10, 1960, and lovingly dedicated her life to her husband, children, family and all of the “little people” she tended throughout the years who knew and loved her as “Miss Mae.” Her light will continue to burn bright in all of the hearts that came to know her.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the Hospice of the Golden Isles, the Senior Care Center of St. Marys, and to everyone who helped her feel comfortable and loved.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Pendleton was preceded in death by her brother, James Turner; and a son, John C. Bostick.
Survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Hugh C. Pendleton; son, Robert H. Pendleton (Tamara) of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Patricia T. Hval of Connecticut and Linda G. Barlow of Rhode Island; sister, Betty Kennedy of South Carolina; brother, Harry Turner of Indiana; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and special friends, Paul McClellan and Thora Blount of St. Marys.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys with Pastor Edward Dixon officiating.
